15th Annual Bluegrass Cellular five K Returns August on 25

Elizabethtown, KY (August 7, 2018) – Registration is open for the 15th-Annual Bluegrass Cellular five k and one-mile fun run on Saturday, August 25. This rain-or-shine event begins at Bluegrass Cellular’s headquarters in Elizabethtown at 7:30 a.m. EDT and the fun run/walk will begin at 7:35 a.m.

The proceeds from this five k and one-mile walk/run go to local high school cross country teams at Elizabethtown, John Hardin, Central Hardin, North Hardin and North Hardin Christian. A portion of the proceeds also go to Greenspace, Inc., a non-profit organization that maintains the walking trails in Hardin County.

The proceeds are divided among the schools based on the number of participants from each school, so participants are encouraged to gather a team and spread the word. Participants include students, athletes, family-members and friends and/or fans of one of these local high schools. The school with the highest number of participants will receive 25% of the donations; second place will receive 20%; and third, fourth and fifth place will receive 15%. A standing 10% of the donations will be given to Greenspace, Inc.

Last year, the race raised $5,977. The goal this year is to exceed that amount and to have over 370 participants.

“Every year we look forward to this event,” said Barry Nothstine, VP of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. “It has always been such a rewarding experience seeing all of these people come together for a great cause, and I am very excited to see what this year’s race has in store.”

This is a USATF Certified Course and timing services will be provided by Central Kentucky Race Management. Entertainment will be provided by a DJ and several local vendors will be onsite.

The cost for the five k will be $30 now through August 19 and $35 August 20 through August 25. The one-mile run/walk is $15.
