Bluegrass Cellular to Sponsor The Penguin Plunge
Bluegrass Cellular Inc. will sponsor The Penguin Plunge to benefit Junior Achievement South Central Kentucky on Saturday, March 3. The event, the first of its kind in Elizabethtown, Ky., will be held at the Sloan Convention Center located at 630 College Street Road in conjunction with the Builders Association Home Expo.
Each participant in The Penguin Plunge must raise a minimum donation of $50 to support Junior Achievement’s financial literacy program benefitting local students. “Penguins” will take the plunge into an outdoor pool of chilly water individually, or as part of a team.
“We are proud to be a part of this exciting fundraiser that will directly support local students right here in our hometown,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Bluegrass Cellular. “
Prizes will be awarded for various donation levels and include long-sleeve event t-shirts, insulated drink coolers, stadium blankets and restaurant gift certificates.
Registration for The Penguin Plunge begins at 10 a.m. at the convention center. A costume parade for the judges will take place at 10:30 a.m., followed by the plunge at 11 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to support family and friends taing the plunge.
Junior Achievement is the world’s largest and fastest-growing non-profit economic education organization. Locally, Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky has grown to reach students in kindergarten through twelfth grades in more than 64 schools and afterschool programs in the area. Last year, volunteers delivered the organization’s economic curriculum to more than 12,500 youth.
