Bluegrass Cellular Asks Communities to Help Select 2012 Battles in the Bluegrass Basketball Matchups

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (December 7, 2011) – Bluegrass Cellular is calling on the community to select its featured 2012 Battles in the Bluegrass basketball rivalry games.  Battles in the Bluegrass is a high school sports program that features rivalry football and basketball games across the state. The schools that are selected to participate will each receive a donation from Bluegrass Cellular.

Community members are encouraged to vote online at www.BattlesintheBluegrass.com for their favorite rivalries. Voting began December 5 and ends at noon on December 16. The game that receives the most votes in each battle will be selected for the Battles in the Bluegrass season. 

Games and teams contending for a spot in the 2012 Battles line up include:

Battle 1
Bardstown High School vs. Nelson County High School: January 6, 8 p.m.
North Hardin High School vs. Elizabethtown High School: January 10, 7:30 p.m.

Battle 2
Ohio County High School vs. Butler County High School: January 24, 7:30 p.m.
Muhlenberg County High School vs. McLean County High School: January 31, 7:30 p.m.

Battle 3
Glasgow High School vs. Barren County High School: January 27, 7:30 p.m.
Cumberland County High School vs. Monroe County High School: January 27, 7:30 p.m.

Battle 4
Corbin High School vs. Whitley County High School: February 3, 6 p.m.
South Laurel High School vs. North Laurel High School: February 3, 7:30 p.m.

Each high school selected as a Battles in the Bluegrass featured rivalry game will receive a $250 donation from Bluegrass Cellular and be eligible to win an additional $1,250 through Play of the Game and Play of the Season online voting contests throughout basketball season.

Fans are encouraged to log on to www.BattlesintheBluegrass.com to vote for the four games of their choice through December 16 and check back for game preview videos and other Battles in the Bluegrass highlights throughout basketball season.
