Bluegrass Cellular Subscribers Can Support Joplin Tornado Relief Efforts

Bluegrass Cellular, Inc. is offering customers a way to donate to the urgent relief efforts in Joplin, Mo. stemming from the deadly tornado that tore through the city on Sunday, May 22, destroying thousands of homes and businesses.

Customers interested in supporting the relief effort can text “HLP JOPLIN” to “4357” to donate $10. Customers will then receive a text message prompting them to reply with “yes” to confirm their donation. Motorola Milestone users will need to compose a new message to confirm their donation with “yes.” Standard text messaging rates will apply. Bluegrass Cellular will send 100 percent of the donated funds to Ozarks Food Harvest, a food bank that distributes food to Joplin, Mo., and surrounding areas.

“We are extremely concerned for the thousands of families that have lost their homes and loved ones,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Bluegrass Cellular. “We know our local community is looking for ways to help the victims of this natural disaster, so we developed this campaign to give them a quick and easy way to donate.”

Ozarks Food Harvest plans to deliver six truckloads of food items and supplies to Joplin residents this week. Donations are still needed in order to continue delivering these necessities to those affected by the devastating tornado.
