April 17, 2007—Bluegrass Cellular presents a benefit concert for the Son Rhea Foundation in Bowling Green, KY
BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY – Bluegrass Cellular is proud to present a benefit concert for the Son Rhea Foundation on Friday April 20, 2007 at 7pm CDT. Glass Harp – featuring iconic guitarist Phil Keaggy - will headline the concert. Others on the bill include Rufus Huff (with Kentucky Headhunters’ Greg Martin) and The Secret.
“This is Rock and Roll Music with positive people,” said Son Rhea’s David Dorris. “We’re extremely excited to have this group of musicians playing. It should not be missed.”
Glass Harp was already considered a wildly influential rock band when in the early 70s gifted guitarist Keaggy embraced Christianity and launched an equally impressive career as a solo artist within the burgeoning Christian music industry. Over the course of his career, Keaggy has released nearly 50 recordings—featuring both acoustic and electric guitar—covering genres ranging from rock to new acoustic to new age jazz.
Rufus Huff (featuring Greg Martin of The Kentucky Headhunters) is a four piece band, named after two obscure bluesmen, Whistlin’ Rufus and Luther Huff. Their sound is best described as an eclectic mix of rock, funk, blues, boogie and “Dixie” through a stack of Marshall amps. The show also includes young rock band, The Secret, all residents of the Bowling Green area and they are also produced by Bowling Green native and acclaimed guitarist Bill Lloyd.
The Son Rhea Foundation was established in year 2000 as a non-profit corporation to help ensure that the arts flourish in Bowling Green and surrounding Southern Kentucky communities. The Son Rhea Foundation believes giving children the opportunity to participate in music and art will not only enhance their appreciation of the fine arts but also enrich their lives and guarantee future generations similar opportunities.
